Revisiting Childhood at Work

When we heard that they made The Wild Things into a movie we took an office break to watch the trailer, such an amazing book and what will hopefully be an amazing movie (though, you never know, I have such a strong impression from childhood, it might lose something in translation). So when we found out a couple days later that we'd be developing collateral pieces for a partnership between American Library Association and Warner Brothers Pictures we were thrilled.  Sendak was a genius and the book was one of his best (though I still quite like the somewhat creepy Outside Over There).  But it got even better, not only did we work with the visually inspiring film imagery but we also worked on a second poster using Sendak's original illustrations.

You might think I'd say it's not often you get to work with such influential material either from our past or contemporary popular culture, but really, it happens quite often with the work we do. These are really the kinds of projects that make you love to come to work... from Curious George and Mike Mulligan to The Lord of the Rings, X-Men and Coraline. All important in my life, and all cool in their own way, at least as cool as something can be when it's being read to you on your Mom's lap at the age of 3. It's kind'a great to be able to put my mark on works that have so strongly put their marks on me.
